Try upgrading the drivers for your sound card on the Creative Labs site. If you are still using the driver that came with Windows XP, that could be the problem.
Let us know if this doesn't help. MM_Aaron www.mixmeister.com |

You may need to configure your soundcard settings to 4 channel output. Open the control panel for your soundcard and make sure it is configured for more than one ouput. If possible, make the settings of your new soundcard identical to the settings of your old soundcard.
Let us know the results. ---JET (Oh, and it is entirely possible that your ARE going madd! But, you won't be the only loone, I'll be in the asylum ahead of you.) |

Thanks for the suggestions - neither worked I'm afraid, but I think it must be the soundcard itself as I've swapped the new one out for the old one and can get dual channel output again. (yay !).
Interestingly enough, despite the fact that the cards are billed by Dell as the same version Live Value card, they look quite different.... (It's not a conspiracy when they are out to get you, you know) If rhythm's a drug, I'm hooked on you... |

Having worked for computer manufacturers I know that some OEM (original equipment manufacturer) components are cut down versions of the retail packages, quite often there will be a chip or two missing ...this way the OEM manufacturer gets incredibly cheap prices yet gets to use the brand name and the kudos that goes along with it.
