I got 2 songs mixed and now want to grab an 8beat section from the last song...and insert this as an overlay into the first song.
What I did was split the section I wanted and then pasted it where I wanted it (converted the section as overlay)...but in doing this my original second whole song became an overlay.
There must be a way to acheive this...but I am stumped! Shame
Can someone tell me if this is possible...I know one way but it would take forever.

I'm not sure I understand what you meant by that, Jimi, but here's what I would do:

From the library, hold down the CTRL key while you drag the track onto the timeline (the track you only want to use part of.) This makes it an overlay by default. Then you can lay a segment line on either side of the beats you want to use and delete all of the track except those beats.

That's the quick and dirty way, and I don't know if it would cause issues if you also wanted to loop/repeat those 8 beats.

For best results, you really should do this (even though it takes a bit longerSmile):

In an empty playlist, add the track you want to use 8 beats from; segment and delete all of the track that you DON'T want to use, and export the remaining 8 beat segment to mp3 format. Then re-import this 8-beat nugget into your library and use it in the mix any way you like, no restrictions....

Before version 7 products came along, with their export directly to MP3, this process was much more time-consuming (you had to export to .wav and then convert to mp3 in some 3rd party software) but now it really just takes a minute or two to get 'er done.....

I got something for your mind, your body and your soul.

What I did is used my original song as primary then dragged it in again using the control key...that gives me exactly what I want! Clapping Very impressed as you can see...heh heh!
