THE ICE ROAD IS OPEN. IT´S COLD, VERY COLD. THE RACE BEGINS. MY WIFE IS WAITING AT HOME, SHE MISS ME, BUT I HAVE TO EARN MONEY. THE SUN IS SHINING - I DREAM, BUT IT WILL BE VERY HARD MONTH! I´M A ICE ROAD TRUCKER - THE RACE BEGINS! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have seen many shows about the Canadian Ice Road Truckers in our TV! It is such a hard job! Temperatures down to - 50 degrees Celsius (that´s also very cold in Fahrenheit!)! They ride over the ice, it is uneven and bumpy, but they have to transport loads up to 40 tons or so! You can break in the ice when you have bad luck! And they drive some days 24 hours till they have unladed their loads! It´s a very hard job, but you can earn very good money: 40.000 $ and more in 4 month when you drive and drive! I have thought that I would do this job! 4 till 5 month very hard work, but the rest of the year you have free with your family! But sadly I have no driver´s license for trucks! However cool, isn´t it? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the mix: Progressive Trance, Vocal Trance + Harmonic Trance and Commercial Trance to create a diversified mix! I know, Progressive Trance gives you a lot of power, but I like also commercial stuff! So I have mixed it in the mix to make it happier! I hope you feel the ride on the Ice Road and ride the trucks! Please tell me! I wish, I could do it for real! Here some more pics of the Ice Roads: All the best! This message has been edited. Last edited by: DJ Mojito, |

I really do enjoy watching this show and it's an interesting concept for a mix as well.
We'll have to wait and see how it sounds! |

First: many thanks for your comments, dear Eclypse!
Mmmh - I like more diversified mixes with a lot of styles ... The Ice Road Trucker begins to drive slowly at the beginning of the season - he dreams while riding over the ice! Then it gets harder and he has to fight! In between he thinks at his wife (the vocal parts)! Then he experiences happy passages where he can relax a bit or feels like dancing! Then rough times! MY CONCEPT OF THIS THEME! Not only Progressive Trance or so ... Many thanks for adding! |

Mix Name: ICE ROAD TRUCKER Current Track: Autumn Sun (Original Mix) Current Artist: DJ Tatana Time into Mix: 00:02:14 # Listeners: 3 Actually, this has kind of a classy sound to it...... but maybe that is what a new trucker might imagine in his head until he experiences the reality.....and so here we go with Windmills/meck....'Well, not so bad so far', he thinks to himself. I love what meck did with this track and vocal lines - beautiful. Current Track: Fade to grey 2009 (Club Radio Edit) Current Artist: Future Breeze Time into Mix: 01:14:44 # Listeners: 4 Another beautiful trance track - many layers, samples, vocal lines, breaks, everything - very multi faceted track. I think I'd have extended that transition into Hideaway at least a couple 8 measure loops - but that's just my preference. Excellent track to finish off this set. summer65 |

Indeed it was thought like this! First the season is not so hard when it begins in November, but then it gets harder and harder!
Yes, you feel the beginning of the new season! The truckers know what is due, but they are still love their jobs! Indeed this track from Meck is beautiful and very good made - I love it too!
Indeed again a fine work! The synthesizers are great, leaned at the old hit by Visage! Yes, yes - I love it, too!
The transition is 40 bars long with a phaser in reverb! The tracks are NOT in the same key (Fade to grey: D m, Hide away: B m). But I love also the "Hide away" track as the closing! It is a unbelievable fantastic track! The fine voice, but also some "passive progressive" - as it is also the artist name! Brilliant! Thus the trick with the reverb phaser to come into this track: The phaser modulates the sound! The track moves quasi into a effect - and the new key fades in OVER the effect! This is NOT anharmonic! I know dozens of tricks to come into different keys and BPM´s! But this is sometimes a very hard work with overlays, filters and effects! I know also something of producing and music - so I have developed many things! Many thanks for your feedback, Sum65!

reverb phaser - well maybe you will teach this old dog some new tricks. I'll have to experiment with this at my next change in key transition. Up until now I look for similare instruments and strong percussion lines to facilitate these type transitions like in my current set 'My Life At One Time' when I move from track 8 to 9 - I Feel Lost (Em) to Lullaby (Dm) (which coincidently follows the story line.) MixMeister comes with reverb and phaser effects as does acid pro and sound forge. I'll have fun working on this. Thanks for the explanation. summe65 sum65.com

Mixing and more brings me also a lot of fun, have learned also a lot in the years. I speak about the things and perhaps this time I know a good trick, then another one knows a better way - no problem! For example I have worked with old and newer delays in my youth and with many guitar effects. Have produced a bit. My brother has played keyboards - so I figure out Ableton, Cubase, music productions and mixing ... I wish I have had the new Cubase in my youth - hahaha! And DJ - ing, mixing and producing is quasi related ... |

Many thanks, Hexx!
I´m glad that you like my track choice! Perhaps I had choose more progressive tracks for a constant flow to interpret the theme, but I wanted a diversified mix! The Ice Road Trucker quasi lives through many adventures - so I have thought! The Armin Van Buuren track is maybe strange in the set, but have thought to bring a bit fun in the mix ... Hope that you all like the set - jeje ... P.S.: The job is two-fisted indeed! For example you can have blizzards on your tours with so many snow that nobody can help you! Some roads are 800 kilometers long (looooong in miles too!), and there is nobody! When your gasoline is empty you die on the ice road, because you have then NOTHING that can warm you - nothing! You can break into the ice and nobody can help you, because the next person is 300 kilometers afar from you! Or a new blizzard has blown your road shut - then you can pray that another truck or a crawler finds you to help you! Perhaps you can ride over the bumpy snow - perhaps! The pics from me show the day, but you have to drive also by night and through killing weather - a hellish job! Furthermore the ice roads are only open from November until April! The mines need new important things in this time - and this have to last until the next season! The most dangerous tours are the tours in April! The ice is thinner now - but still the mines need things! Now you can earn very good money - or you can die very quick! Insanity! This message has been edited. Last edited by: DJ Mojito, |
