I would like to see Folder Monitoring Per Library.

like d:\house will go into the House Library
and
D:\breaks will go into the breaks library

If this does this now, please tell me im dumb and show me where it does it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you are talking about your Categories within your Library, right? You are saying if you have your auto set to scan your D:\breaks folder on your HD, you want the tracks from that folder to go into a category for breaks in your Library.... And you are right, there is no mechanism for this happening automatically.

As a workaround, you can sort your library by filename, which would group all D:\breaks material together, and then select that and "Add to Category" from the right-click menu ... it's not automatic but it is very quick.

BTW, I'm not sure how that auto-add feature would work if you had a folder on your HD without a similar category already created in the Library -- where would those new tracks be stored in that case? I tend to acquire music first, including making a specific folder for it on the HD, so in my case, the folder would already exist when I start up MixMeister ... but the category for that new folder would not exist yet....

Yea, you are correct.

I get new tracks alot, and i put them in a folder and listen to them and see wehre they go. then the Break stuff goes into \breaks, the house stuff into \house and so on.

I have Categroies in my library, 2 of them are /breaks and /house. I dont want to go and scan the folder each time to add the new tracks, and i dont want to ad them 1 by 1. Just my /break folder is around 14,000. So, putting a monitor on it, and when i add the new tracks to the folder, and then when i open MM, it scans the "Monitored" folders, and adds the tracks the the categorie in the library. Then when i got to make a mix, i know the new tracks are there.

Yea, i could sort, but that is why this is a "wishlist"

is this not the same as the current option already available "monitoring folders for new music"? i have not utilized that feature yet, but here is what is in the help files...

quote:

Setting MixMeister Fusion to update your Library regularly
If you're someone who's constantly downloading music files from many sources or frequently ripping CDs for new music, MixMeister Fusion offers a convenient way to help you keep your Library up-to-date. You can set MixMeister Fusion to compare what's in the Library to the directories on your hard drive where you store your
music files. So, for example, if the ID3 tag for a song is updated with new information, MixMeister Fusion will grab the new data during a scan and automatically add it to your Library!

You can even set MixMeister Fusion to create Library categories for you based on the directory it's scanning for new files and data. For example, suppose you've set MixMeister Fusion to copy files from C:\Music, and you have a subfolder set up like this: C:\Music\Paul Oakenfold\Bust A Groove. MixMeister Fusion will create a category named " Paul Oakenfold\Bust A Groove," and will assign all the songs from the Bust A Groove folder to that category.

*
*

Every time you start MixMeister Fusion, it scans the files in the directories you specify and compares them with the files already in your Library. If you're running Windows XP or Windows Vista, MixMeister Fusion also performs this scan whenever the specified directories are updated.

On the Tools menu, choose Options, and then click the Library tab.

Click Automatically Update the Library based on the Following Directories. (You should see a check mark in the box.)

Click Add Directory.

Browse for and select the directory or folder you want MixMeister Fusion to scan regularly for new files and for new ID3 data for existing files, and then click OK.

MixMeister Fusion will scan for files in the directory you select as well as all sub-directories within it.

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for as many directories and folders as you like, and then click OK in the Options dialog box.

*
*

To set MixMeister Fusion to create new Library categories based on the structure of the directories it's scanning

If you tend to work with a great number of files and want to save yourself a lot of time, consider using this technique. You can set MixMeister Fusion to create Library categories—and assign files to those categories—for you based on the structure and content of the directories it's scanning.

On the Tools menu, choose Options, and then click the Library tab.

Make sure there is a check mark next to Automatically Update the Library based on the Following.

Click Automatically Build Categories Based on Directory Structure. (You should see a check mark in the box.)

Click OK.

*
*
*
*
*

To remove a directory from the list of directories MixMeister Fusion scans

On the Tools menu, choose Options, and then click the Library tab.

Make sure there is a check mark next to Automatically Update the Library based on the Following Directories.

Select the directory you want to remove from the update list, and then click Remove.

Repeat Step 3 for any other directories you want to remove, and then click OK.

*
*
*
*
*

To set MixMeister Fusion to stop updating your Library by scanning one or more directories

You can temporarily suspend automatic updating of your Library without manually removing the directory names you specified earlier.

On the Tools menu, choose Options, and then click the Library tab.

Click Automatically Update the Library based on the Following Directories. (You should see no check mark in the box.)

Click OK.

is this feature used by most here? is it recommended?

OK, that might do what i need it to do, but i have now followed that, i added a directory for monitoring, and clicked OK.

It didnt do anything. I restarted MM, and it still doesnt add it automaticly.

I have added a folder that i have never used. I want to see if it will do it by itself, but so far no luck.

OK, nevermind, i see what is doing. It is working, i just need to add the root folder and not the one i added.

I added M:\80's

and in that dir on the hard drive, it is like
M:\80s\Rock
M:\80s\Pop

and so on, So, when i added M:\80s, in MM now, it just has librarys like POP and Rock, but doesnt say anything about 80's

i need to do some teaking, but its on my end

OK
so i tested, and it does good, but, the way it says it does, doesnt work.

I added remvoed ALL tracks from my MM. That way i can test better. Then i added M:\unreleased

It scanned it all fine, found all the tracks, but it didnt make a categorie. It should of made "unrelesed", but it didnt. There are no categories. All the tracks are there, but no categories and i do have the box checked.

same here david.

i tested this cool feature by creating a new folder...

H:\My Music Files\mm test

with 2 subfolders...

H:\My Music Files\mm test\mm test B
H:\My Music Files\mm test\mm test C

i then added a track to the "main folder" (H:\My Music Files\mm test) which mm found and plotted, however mm did not create a category in the library.

i then added a track to the test B folder and test C folder... mm once again found the tracks and plotted them, but this time it created 2 separate category entries in the library named "mm test B" and "mm test C" as it should have.

so it appears that mm has the ability to update and add new tracks within any folder, but it can only create category entries for subfolders.

still a very cool feature nonetheless. if this is a bug, i hope it gets considered in a future update.

yea, the way i see it, if you add

M:\breaks

then it should add the category of "breaks" as it scans it.

it is a cool feature, i just wish it would add the categories like it says it is suppose to

Based on past history, I think MM rarely releases an individual bug fix; in general, when you have a version update or a new version release is when you can expect to see the various issues resolved, wish list items added and everything released all together.
