I've never been aware of this on "full-length" songs or even other samples, but I recently came upon a handful of Obama ringtones, basically silly bits, all very short. I imported them into my Library (Studio 7.2.2) and when I play them, the beginning of each one is clipped off.
If I open the same file and play it in, e.g. WinAmp or WMP, I can hear the entire bit. Keep in mind, these are very short pieces, ranging from 02 to 10 seconds (IOW, a typical length for many samples) and the humor is lost if you can't hear the first couple of words. What's up with this and more importantly, is there anything I can do to prevent the bit being truncated? Thanks! I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

after reading your post i downloaded audacity to see if what i thought would work might actually work. i was able to add an extension to the beginning of an mp3 which could then be edited out once imported to mm. here's what i did... 1. download and install audacity 2. download and unzip LAME for audactiy 3. open audacity and load first file via the File/Open option 4. open a second file via the Project/Import Audio option 5. click first file to highlight the entire waveform 6. select the <-> button on the toolbar 7. drag the first file to the right to the desired position (based upon how much "extra" space you want to add to the beginning of the file) 8. place cursor on the second file where the first file begins by left click/hold and drag to right to highlight area to the right 9. hit delete button (this will remove the excess) 10. save file as mp3 or wav you should now be able to import into mm and slice out the beginning part you just created (or zero the volume in that area) i hope that helps. Fusion 7.3.2 So this is what a sinking ship looks like |

Thanks, Kev, I have audacity around here somewhere, so should be able to make this work ... the funny thing is, these aren't even something I can drop in a mix, due to the somewhat scandalous language in each one ...
