How to webcast MixMeister to a Shoutcast server
The first thing you need to do is download and install WinAmp and the Shoutcast DNAS plug-in for WinAmp, make sure you install WinAmp first though. If you want to use your own computer as a Shoutcast server, you will also require the Shoutcast server, I have not included instructions on how to set this up as they can be found on the same page as the download link below. Please note that this is all free software and will not cost you a penny. WinAmp Shoutcast DNAS Shoutcast server Now you’ve installed those you’re ready to stream! In MixMeister go to the Options menu and select Audio Output options and change the selection to webcast, make sure you set the output to 128kbps stereo or higher, at the moment this part will not use any of your bandwidth so the higher you set this the better, but there’s no need to go over the top! Now when you click on the perform button you will stream your output to an mms address like this mms://[Your IP Address]:7007. But as no-one is connected you will not be using bandwidth. The next step is to set up WinAmp to receive the audio stream. In WinAmp select the file menu and click on Open URL. Enter the mms URL, if you have one, use your local IP address, you will definitely have one if you’re using a router, this will be something like 192.168.0.1. This way you will still not be using any bandwidth to receive the stream in WinAmp, which means that your output to a server can be of a higher quality. If you need to find your URL open a DOS prompt (yes I’m a windows user, don’t know how to do this if you’re using a different OS), to do this click on the start menu and use the run option, or if your using Vista just click in the search bar, type cmd and hit return. In the window that appears type ipconfig, a list will then appear with your IP address. Ok, now WinAmp is connected to your MMS stream and you can hear the output, you’re ready to set up the DNAS plug-in to stream to the server. Details of how to do this are provided in the text file that accompanies the installation. So now you’re ready to stream to a Shoutcast server, congratulations! Ok just a couple of other things. If you’re wondering how much a server will cost, or where you can rent one, I can tell you that I am a Second Life resident, and rent my server through this. It costs me around 3US$ a week and will cope with up to 100 listeners at 128kbps. There are other ways to rent a server, I just don’t know what they are. If you decide to go the Second Life route and want some help, look me up, just do a search for Garat Longstaff. If I’m taking a stream from someone else, what I do is get them to give me a countdown and about 30 secs from when I’m due to go live I will begin the performance in MixMeister, then as soon as the stream hits WinAmp click on the pause button, this will then store your performance in a buffer so that when you click on play it will start from where you paused it. If you select the connect on startup option in the plug-in, this will also connect as soon as the previous DJ has finished, you can then hit play when this happens and there will be a continuous stream of music to the server, with no breaks. Hope this all makes sense, if any of it needs clarification let me know and I’ll amend it. Glad to be of help, I love sharing this stuff! DJ Garat Logo = Work in progress! lol |

This is also possible using Sam Broadcaster
And will work with all versions of it as far as im aware. In Sam once its installed you goto Desktop B in the main window and you want the encoders section Add a new encoder, choose your plugin usually mp3/mp3pro is the best option for shoutcast, click ok. You now have 3 tabs In converter set your quality and format i use high and 128kb's 44.1khz stereo In server set your shoutcast server you are trying to connect to with the address/login and pass Also in server you can choose the type either Shoutcast,Live365 or icecast, i have used this on Shoutcast and Live365 Add in your visible details so people can see who you are and genres etc, you really only need to alter station name, website and genre. In stream archive it allows you to save the show as you do it,this can make webcasting twitchy if you have to much going on. Click Ok In statistcal relay section you can add server details so you can see listeners etc when your live. Just above your encoder you just made there is two buttons one red one blue, make sure encoding from souncard is selected the red one. In mixmeister if you start a track you should see the decibel meter in Sam jumping, if you dont adjust settings until you do, once you can see it moving when you are playing a track in mixmeister then you just right click the encoder and choose start and it will stream the music straight to the station. This will work with any of the audio settings on output with mixmeister just the amount of output will reduce. But you will not be able to get any info about tracks playing, all i do to get round this is to get a mp3 make a copy of it then open the copy in something like tag and rename so you can edit the mp3 edit the tags and the title to show..Dj [Yourname]Listen In For Chat, Discussion, Tunes, Live Mixing And Everything In Between Etc Etc, Make you own up to your thing, then save it if you add it into the playlist part of sam in desktop one then just as you have kicked the server off you quickly play this mp3 in sam and then stop it and start you mm playlist then it will show your title you just made in the now playing section on the site you play for. This last bit is not ideal but its workable. I have different mp3's saved with different show titles or genres, its a workaround The one thing i would like to see included is a export playlist whilst running option so i could just give the file to sam and it would show my tracks without worrying about the stream,i can do the stream as detailed above i just need the track and artist info and the world would be good ;o) At the end of the day i use MM for radio shows which is not the main focus so its what you make of it. I use a lot of chat in my shows and mm keeps the music tight and sweet as i rabbit over the top so its ideal for me Hope this is of use. Dj Demon |

Holy Thread CPR!!!
At any rate... I have this working like a charm. Now how do I insert my voice for VO's... MMP has no way to do that while webcasting. Thanks |

I second Peilo's comment - much nicer way to do this is using "VAC" - virtual audio cable. Then record from this virtual soundcard and stream using the free "Edcast". Quality is better as you don't do a double encode, and you get rid of the extra mms buffer time.

Oh yeah - and there's "audio repeater" in VAC as well - which will let you overlay any USB mic/headset onto the outgoing stream (with a little 200ms delay though
