Hi guys. I've been using MixMeister Pro to webcast, but am having some problems regarding the IP. I've already searched through similar topics but have got even more confused (!) and I'm not very good when it comes to these things anyway!

The problem is this. Up until now, MixMeister's been happily webcasting. The bar at the bottom of the screen said it was webcasting on mms://(then my IP address):7007 - as it should. But all of a sudden, the numbers were replaced by the computer name, and the bar now reads: Webcasting on mms://NAME:7007.

My question is how to revert back to the IP numbers. Or at leasthow to allow others to listen to the webcast.

Many thanks for your help.

Are you using Broadband or Dial Up? Confused

Broadband always keeps your IP address. But Dial Up keep changing your IP address. Try www.askJeeves.com If you have dial up. That site will let you know your current IP address everytime you log on..

Have you broadcasted your mixes before using webcast with MM?

I let others have my IP address, even though on my MM Program it says the name of my PC. It still works...unless your IP address changed...

Andre, many thanks for that.

I think the main problem was a changing IP which I didn't realise. I assumed it was the fact MixMeister was webcasting using the actual computer name that was confusing things, but it isn't.

Many thanks again.

I have no idea what that post is, but it appears to be an unfunny joker.

Does that mean something special in your part of the world? Roll Eyes

FYI I'm on broadband also (DSL) but I disconnect and reconnect between online sessions, so I have a dynamic IP (although I could purchase a static IP if I needed that option.) If you are on cable instead of using the phone line the way I do, you would have a static IP.

Ah!! MadameFLY is my expert when it comes to webcasting! She taught me in a wink of an eye on how to do it!!

If you have any more questions about it, make sure to ask her!! She is very knowledgeable in that field and in many others also. Big Grin

All I know is that http://www.whatismyipaddress.com/ has given me a different IP to the one I thought it was a couple of days ago, which suggests my IP is not static.

I really am not very technical, so excuse me for sounding thick! But would the IP change every time the PC is switched back on?

As for "unfunny joker", what are you lost about?!

If you scroll up, there's a post by someone called "t38". I can't work out what it's supposed to mean so I presume it's a joke of some kind.

Well it was T38's first post, hopefully it was his last!! This is not a place to just fool around and post anything like that! I hope he smarts up. Wink

Well, I'm confused a bit myself, but I'm not sorry to see the post disappear, even tho' it makes my response look a bit off the wall.

You still never told him how to make it say the IP instead of the name of the computer. Hehehe
