OK. Let's talk about this again for a moment;

In order to broadcast a stream through my Live365 account, I must switch modes from basic to relay. Is that right? And the information about IP address and port, that I type into mt Live365 account fields ( where it is actually asking me for the IP addy and port ) get assigned to me and displayed once I start the performance task within Mixmeister ( Pro 6, btw ) and my mix begins.

I have ogtten this far before - and even had my Live365 account say that I am on the air and all seems fine. With a few exceptions'

#1. I cannot actually hear any music. My playlist window displays as " playlist not available " ( Which is normal for broadcasting in this mode of relay and without the benefit of ID Tags getting pushed through from MM6 ).

I suspect that I may be making one major flaw that I am just now becoming aware of; I read that webcasting by using MM6 is reliant on WMA. Does that mean, and forgive my ignoracne, that all my MP3 files that I have ripped and converted to 320 and all that is fine for the mixing of songs and burning sets onto CD and stuff BUT - I cannot use my MP3s to broadcast via the web?

Do I need to convert my MP3 files to WMA and keep a new folder for just those songs that I may wish to broadcast?

Walk me through it like I'm a 4- year old.

Thanks in advance.

Sean

There are two ways to use Live 365:

1) You create your best mix in MixMeister and export it to your hard drive. You then upload this mix to Live 365. They host the mix and play it for your listeners.
2) You use special software to broadcast your mix and use Live 365 to relay it to other listeners in real time.

It sounds like you are pursuing option 2, which is much harder to do. MixMeister is not directly compatible with Live 365's relay options. So, you will need additional software and more expertise.

I highly encourage you to learn more about option 1. It is perfectly suited to someone getting started brodcasting just a few mixes.

Sorry - I should have been more clear;

I have been broadcasting on Live365 for years. Got that part down fairly well. I broadcast in basic most of the time. But I have also done a Line-in broadcast from my mixer and mic and turntables and cdd players and all that stuff.

I have also used SAM2 to broadcast live from my computer. I understand the basic principle at hand of what Live365 needs from me - I'm just trying to figure out if I can utilize MM Pro 6 in the same way I did with SAM2? ( SAM2 is a desktop program that allows me to send my MP3s directly through to my station at Live365 ).

I also have used Live365's Live Broadcasing tool. It's a little clunky but can work for certain types of Live shows ( i.e. - when I'm not drunk and wanna talk on the mic ).

So as far as pursuing option #1 - I have - I love it.

But #2 seems SO close. I just need to know if I can use the MP3s that all my music is in and, on-the-fly, broadcat live using MM Pro 6. I'm hearing that the answer to that is - No. WMA is the only format you can on-the-fly broadcast. BUT, if I want to pre-program a MP3 mix and then encode THAT entire show into WMA and send it through LIVE, I can. But that's not what I want to do. I can already do that part without having to re-encode anything.

So I still love the mixing feature that I have always used past versions of MM for. It's just looking like the fact that my files are MP3s and NOT WMA is what prohibits any live show from being heard.

One final idea/question. ( OK - maybe two ) - If I took every single one of my MP3 files stored on my computer and copied them to a WMA format, could I then store that entire WMA catalog as a batch of broadcast-ready formatted files and just tap into that duplicate batch solely for broadcasting LIVE?

And part II - What software converts MP3s to WMA?

Finally, just for posterity, I think I have how to interface with Live365 and MM Pro 6 understood. It becomes a " relay " broadcast in the eyes of Live365. The tagging information isn't important to me right now. I'm used to the playlist window displaying " playlist unavailable " during some LIVE shows of mine. But if anyone senses that I am heading in a wrong direction with how a feew things work or have made an incorrect assumption, please, I'm all eyes.

Thanks again - Sean.

If you are looking to do live broadcast with MixMeister on Live 365, I encourage you to go back to the same approach you used with turntables and a mic. In other words, use the Live 365 software to capture analog input from an external source.

The easiest way is with two computers: Use the first to play your mix on MixMeister to your sound card. Use the second to capture the sound of the first and relay it to Live365. You'll need special software for this that I am not familiar with.

I'm sorry that I do not know the SAM software and don't have more specific suggestions to offer.

OK. so " NO " is the answer to " Can I broadcast my MP3s through MM Pro 6 to my Live365 account, LIVE? "

Got it.
