Hi all,

I currently broadcast a show using shoutcast and oddcast and I cannot figure out how to get Mixmeister to stream the song title and artist during the show. It seems to get stuck on the last song that was on before I started my show. So the entire show has one song and never actually updates as new songs are played.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately Mixmeister doesn't send the shoutcast stream directly therefore it isn't able to send the song titles.

It can update a web-page with now-playing info but in my experience doing this and running the shoutcase encoder and an ftp client with an auto upload at small enough intervals meant the system was incredibly unreliable.

With my shoutcast shows I set a catch all dj/show name and backannounce the tracks (when I can be bothered )

Do you know by chance if MixMeister can use Winamp plugins?

Also do you know if MM can dump the current song title into a file? There has to be a way, lol. Thanks again.

There are alot of new and upcoming features. I will add this to the wishlist.

This would be usefull for those that do use shoutcast.
I did mess with having the winamp shoutcast plugin running and playing mm to see if winamp picks it up but no joy unfortunatly

It picks up the audio np

the only way ive found to get round this, is to make a copy of a small mp3, rename it to your show title and any other info u want the listener to know ie: what kind of show etc etc then make sure the id3 tags are the same on the mp3 then it gets picked up by sam etc and just play it through sam first so it sets a show title before u kick ur tunes in, u only need to run it a few secs for it to show on shoutcast

There is a post about a text file being updated - however I didn't get this to work.

If you would then use oddcast (or now edcast) you can pick up metadata from a textfile.

I don't have it working but it might be worth looking into.

using mixmeister properly ... i do not think there should be a need for the information to be sent in that way.... i sometimes have all 8 tracks going @ the same time

or sometimes have pieces of non labeled songs (ones i'v created in FL studio) as overlay tracks

i do use this from time to time on secondlife... (DJ cornbread) and all i do is have the audio coming from the soundcard input... make a 5 second silent audio track and give it the id3 tags i want play it @ the startup of winamp and stream from there (otherwise prople will see the mms://192.168.1.69:7007)

i would suggest using 127.0.0.1:7007 as a loopback address so the listener would not have your network id

I don't use the MMS route - it's double encoding and lowers the quality considerably. Using VAC+EdCast I can set the stream information to fixed metadata
